Vital calves must be fed 4-5 times a day in the first few weeks of life in order to achieve maximum milk yield later on. This is inefficient and far too labor-intensive with many previous feeding methods. With the new CalfRail DUO from Förster-Technik it is now possible to feed two calves in a double box automatically and at the same time via two teats.
Calves are herd animals. Pair housing is good for the animals’ drinking, eating and learning behavior, as it enables early social contact. Calves reared in pairs are less susceptible to stress and develop positively. Calves reared in pairs are more vital and the risk of illness is significantly lower in pairs compared to single housing. As two calves are not always born per day, the CalfRail DUO also offers the option of feeding just one calf.
Feeding according to nature: The CalfRail DUO can feed up to eight times a day. The calves receive small, age-appropriate portions at the optimum drinking temperature right up to the very last sip. Thanks to timely and fresh preparation and individual quantities for each pair, every calf is cared for.
Up to 64 calves in total can be fed per CalfRail DUO. Up to two CalfRail DUO can be installed per automatic calf feeder, a combination with group feeding is possible as well. The CalfRail DUO can be set up in both new and old buildings.
The CalfRail DUO cleans itself completely automatically after each feeding thus ensuring best hygiene. During the main cleaning, water with detergent circulates in the hose. The detergent water is drained off so that no detergent residue remains in the hose.
